UrMorning ("we," "us," or "our") operates the UrMorning mobile application (the "App") and related services. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our App and services, including our SMS messaging program.
By using UrMorning, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Phone Number: We collect your phone number during account creation to verify your identity and send you SMS messages related to safety check-ins, reminders, and account notifications.
- Check-In Schedule: Your preferred daily check-in time and timezone.
- Trusted Contact Information: Names and phone numbers of people you designate as emergency contacts. We send SMS messages to these contacts as part of our safety escalation service.
- Safety Notes: Medical information, medications, and health conditions you choose to store (optional, premium feature).
- Home Address: Your home address, shared with trusted contacts during a safety incident (optional, premium feature).
- Photos: Images you upload for the Photo Help feature, used to provide AI-powered answers to your questions (optional, premium feature).
- Voice Conversations: Audio from the Talk for a Minute voice companion feature, processed in real time for conversation purposes (optional, premium feature). We store text transcripts of these conversations.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device Installation ID: A unique identifier tied to your device installation (not your personal identity). This is our primary method of identifying your account.
- Device Token: Your Apple Push Notification service (APNs) token, used to send you push notification reminders.
- Check-In Records: Timestamps of when you complete your daily check-ins.
- App Usage Analytics: Basic product analytics events (e.g., onboarding started, check-in completed) to improve our service. These are not tied to your personal identity.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Safety Check-In Service: To operate the core check-in, reminder, and safety escalation features of the App.
- SMS Messaging: To send text messages including check-in reminders, missed check-in alerts, safety call notifications, and trusted contact alerts. See our SMS Terms for full messaging details.
- Safety Calls: To place automated phone calls when you miss a check-in, verifying your safety.
- Trusted Contact Alerts: To notify your designated emergency contacts via SMS if we cannot reach you after a missed check-in.
- Contact Consent: To send an initial opt-in SMS to people you add as trusted contacts, requesting their consent to receive safety alerts.
- Photo Help: To process photos you upload and provide AI-generated answers to your questions.
- Voice Companion: To facilitate real-time voice conversations with our AI companion and store conversation summaries for continuity.
- Push Notifications: To send check-in reminders and safety alerts to your device.
- Service Improvement: To analyze anonymized usage patterns and improve the App.
3. SMS Messaging and Phone Numbers
We use your phone number and your trusted contacts' phone numbers to send SMS messages as part of our safety check-in service. Specifically:
- To You (the App User): Account verification codes, check-in reminders, and safety notifications. Message frequency varies based on your check-in schedule, typically up to 6 messages per day.
- To Your Trusted Contacts: Consent request messages, safety alert messages when you miss a check-in and cannot be reached, and optional daily check-in confirmation messages. Trusted contacts typically receive 0-2 messages per day.
Message and data rates may apply. You and your trusted contacts can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. For help, reply HELP or contact us at support@urmorning.com.
We do not sell, rent, or share phone numbers with third parties for marketing purposes. Phone numbers are used solely to operate the UrMorning safety check-in service.

4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate UrMorning:
- Supabase: Database hosting and user authentication (phone OTP verification).
- Twilio: SMS messaging and automated phone calls for safety check-ins.
- OpenAI: AI-powered features including Photo Help (image analysis) and Talk for a Minute (voice companion).
- RevenueCat: Subscription billing management.
- Apple Push Notification service (APNs): Push notifications for check-in reminders.
- Sentry: Error tracking to identify and fix bugs (no personal data sent).
Each third-party service processes data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We share only the minimum data necessary for each service to function.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for the following periods:
- Voice conversation transcripts: 90 days
- Photos: 180 days
- Check-in records: 365 days
- Safety call records: 365 days
- Account data: Until you delete your account
Expired data is automatically and permanently deleted through our daily retention cleanup process.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information:
- All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
- Session tokens are stored securely in your device's Keychain.
- Database access is protected by Row Level Security (RLS) policies.
- Backend API endpoints are authenticated and rate-limited.
- We use privacy-first identification (device installation ID) rather than personal identity tracking.
7. Your Rights (GDPR and CCPA)
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access and Export: You can export all your data in JSON format through the App (Settings > Export My Data) or by contacting us.
- Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data through the App (Settings > Delete Account). This removes all data from our database, storage, and third-party services (OpenAI, Supermemory).
- Opt-Out of Messaging: Reply STOP to any SMS message, or disable notifications in the App settings.
- Correction: You can update your information through the App at any time.

8. Children's Privacy
UrMorning is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Tracking and Advertising
UrMorning does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers. We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers. Our analytics are limited to anonymized, first-party product usage events to improve the App.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App or on our website. Your continued use of UrMorning after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
